Kong vs Mechagodzilla Box Office

Godzilla vs. Kong will be released in 2021 as a sequel to King of the Monsters and Kong: Skull Island.

A sequel to the film is currently in the works.

When Jia visits Kong and gives him a doll, a tree is hurled at him.

But when he finishes downloading the data, Godzilla appears and strikes unexpectedly. The remains of the facility include an odd piece of equipment that resembles a huge robotic eye.

It has been a while after the assault, but public opinion has shifted against Godzilla. In the wake of Godzilla's recent assault on her school, Bernie's podcast listener Madison Russell is alarmed. Trying to reason with her widowed father Mark (who is working as Monarch's director) about a potential lead on the source of Godzilla's rampage, she approaches him after school but he ignores all she says as he simply answers that beasts, like humans, may evolve. With Josh Valentine at her side, Madison is on a mission to find the person responsible for Godzilla's rampage and uncover the mysteries of Apex.

Because Skull Island can no longer accommodate him (due to Kong's massive size), Nathan offers that they employ Kong as a navigator to guide them to the energy source. When Nathan persuades Ilene to assist in putting a stop to Godzilla's rampage and finding Kong a new home, she agrees to do so.

Nathan, Ilene, Jia, and an Apex team led by Walter's daughter Maia board a specially designed boat with a moderately drugged Kong tied up. Kong becomes restless and worried later that night, but Jia calms him down by having her and Kong clasp hands in solidarity while Kong signs the word "home" for Ilene. The next day, Ilene tells Nathan about how she raised Jia as her own after harsh and unpredictable storms killed most of the Iwi, including her parents, but Jia was the lone survivor because Kong saved her, which led to their bond.

In the end, Godzilla and Kong are separated when Godzilla becomes confused by the depth charges, allowing Kong to surface for a breather.

Realizing Kong can't survive in the cold weather and that they can't return him to Skull Island, Nathan asks Ilene if Kong will go if he thinks there are others like him through there and she tells Jia to ask Kong that his family could possibly be down there, prompting the Titan to enter the tunnel and the teams follow him in their HEAVs.

Meanwhile, Madison and Josh track down Bernie, who recognizes Madison as Mark's daughter and joins their inquiry, believing Apex was involved in Godzilla's behavior shift. They slip inside the devastated Apex facility together, only to discover that the "eye" Bernie mentioned earlier has vanished. As they find a mysterious facility deep down, the gang is accidentally imprisoned in and transported to Hong Kong by an antigravity transport vehicle transporting Skullcrawler eggs.

The plan of Walter to use the Hollow Earth's energy to defeat Mechagodzilla is then revealed. After seeing that Mechagodzilla is the true culprit, Madison discovers that Apex is attempting to replace the Titans with humans in order to take over as Earth's dominant species. Mechagodzilla's biological supercomputer and cockpit was acquired by Apex from Alan Jonah five years ago after it was bitten off by Godzilla during his battle with Ghidorah and is now a skull that Madison and the others stumble upon while trying to find an exit. Ren is sitting inside the severed head of Ghidorah.

Kong and Nathan's team set off on their journey after discovering a majestic stone temple belonging to Kong's forebears. They uncover artifacts of an ancient fight between Kong and Godzilla's race on their way inside, and Kong discovers an antique axe carved from a deceased Godzilla's race member's dorsal plate. This power source may also be used to recharge Kong's axe. Despite Ilene's concerns that Apex cannot simply seize the find of the century, Maia and the Apex team use spider-like drones to retrieve the power source and return it to their Hong Kong headquarters. Maia's guards open fire on Nathan's team, but Kong cries back furiously. When Godzilla senses the activation of Mechagodzilla, he races to Hong Kong.

Hearing Godzilla's scream as he gives him with another challenge, Kong accepts and begins to make his way to Hong Kong with his axe in hand through the hole caused by Godzilla's atomic breath, as Ilene, Nathan, and Jia follow him in their HEAV. When Kong confronts Godzilla in Hong Kong, he battles him again, this time getting the upper hand and shoving his axe down Godzilla's throat to prevent him from launching his atomic breath. Kong realizes that his axe is capable of not only blocking Godzilla's atomic breath, but also absorbing it, and uses his weapon to harm the Titan in the thigh, however Godzilla immediately removes and discards the axe. After evading and dodging Godzilla's assaults with the help of Hong Kong's structures and greater agility, Kong recovers his axe and brings it down on Godzilla, causing an explosion that pushes both Titans back, convincing Nathan that Kong has won the second round.

So amazed by Kong's strength and skill, Godzilla spares his life before walking away, leaving him alive but gravely damaged.

Walter tells Ren to dispatch Mechagodzilla to slay Godzilla back at Apex headquarters. The mecha is activated, despite Ren's warnings not to use the new Hollow Earth energy source without testing. The security guards also apprehend Bernie, Madison, and Josh and bring them to Walter. While Walter denies inciting Godzilla's war and triggering the whole mess, Madison accuses him of accepting responsibility for giving humans a chance to confront Godzilla and the Titans.

Meanwhile, Josh and Bernie try to remotely deactivate the renegade robot, and Madison summons Mark for aid, while Godzilla and Mechagodzilla battle, with Godzilla getting the upper hand and burning Mechagodzilla. Jia observes Kong's pulse diminishing as the three approach him, while Mechagodzilla continues to batter Godzilla. They are unable to generate a large enough charge to restart Kong's heart, but Nathan recalls Maia's earlier remark about the HEAVs producing enough power to power Las Vegas for a week, so he flies the last HEAV onto Kong's chest and sets it to self-destruct, detonating the craft and releasing a massive electrical charge that instantly revives Kong.

After Kong awakens, he witnesses the battle between Godzilla and Mechagodzilla before meeting up with Jia, who tries to convince Kong that Godzilla isn't really his enemy. Though Kong doesn't believe her at first as he continues to watch Godzilla being overwhelmed by Mechagodzilla, Jia reveals the truth to him that the robot is the "real" enemy, not Godzilla. After a moment, Kong finally accepts and puts aside his grudge before heading into battle to help Godzilla while fixing his dislocated arm.

Josh and Bernie are overjoyed to meet Mark and ask him on his show to speak about the Monarch facility in Roswell, which Madison reunites with and introduces him to Josh and Ilene. After a brief pause, Godzilla appears, causing Kong to take his axe and ready to begin the battle once again. Godzilla, on the other hand, remains still while he observes Kong. Kong lowers his axe in defeat, putting a stop to the animosity between his race and Godzilla's. After a protracted battle, Godzilla and Kong are no longer adversaries, and they treat each other as equals before Godzilla returns to the sea quietly.

Monarch will have built an observation station in the Hollow Earth at a later date. When Kong walks by one morning, Ilene, Nathan, and Jia are all there to observe him. To declare his new home and kingdom, the Ruler of the Hollow Earth, Kong leaps onto an overhanging rock and pounds his chest, roaring as he declares himself the new king of this land.

The sequence in which Kong slams his dislocated right shoulder against a structure in order to reposition it might be a reference to Martin Riggs' iconic ability of the same sort in the Lethal Weapon series.

Numerous allusions to Neon Genesis Evangelion appear in the film:

The scene where Kong jumps from ship-to-ship is similar to a scene where Eva Unit-02 jumps from ship-to-ship trying to avoid an angel, much like Godzilla.
